Co-Chief Executive Officer and Director
Mr. Schmidt received much of his early education in sales and relationship management from family enterprise operations. Mr. Schmidt has 35+ years of sales experience and 15 years of oil and gas experience. Mr. Schmidt co-founded TerraPro in 2006 and, in addition to his duties as Co-CEO of TerraPro, will oversee sales and business development activities. Together with Mr. Schellenberg, Mr. Schmidt will also oversee the operational activities of TerraPro.
Co-Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Director
Mr. Schellenberg earned a Bachelor of Commerce, an MBA and an LLB, all from the University of Alberta. Following completion of his studies, he completed his legal articles and was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada. Mr. Schellenberg then worked for Merrill Lynch Canada Inc. in its Canadian investment banking operations where he focused on M&A advisory and financing work. Mr. Schellenberg will be responsible for strategy, finance, and administrative activities at TerraPro. Together with Mr. Schmidt, Mr. Schellenberg will also oversee the operational activities of TerraPro.
L. Evan Baergen
Mr. Baergen is a Chartered Professional Accountant. One of his principal occupations is acting as a director and officer of Paragon. He earned an engineering diploma from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1983; a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University in 1989; a Chartered Accountant (now Chartered Professional Accountant) designation in 1992 upon completion of the articling requirements with PriceWaterhouse; and the CITP specialization certification from the American Institute of CPA's in 2015. Mr. Baergen has held executive roles in a wide range of companies, including SUMmedia.com, Koo Creative Ltd. and Group Telecom Inc. Mr. Baergen's experiences also include the recapitalizations of private companies, the implementation of leading-edge technology projects in the telecom and IT sectors, and various advisory engagement roles. Mr. Baergen has been active in mergers and acquisitions, divestures, as well as in several start-up companies. He has also served as a director of or consultant to numerous private companies, including TerraPro.
C. James Davis
Mr. Davis has significant executive leadership and board accomplishments in the transportation and oilfield industries. He began his career at Deloitte & Touche following which he moved to Greyhound Canada Transportation Corp. becoming Corporate Controller in 1993. Mr. Davis joined ECL Group of Companies Ltd. in 1998 as Chief Financial Officer and became President, CEO and Director in 2003. When RTL-Westcan Group of Companies acquired ECL in 2010, he became President and Chair of the Executive Steering Committee of RTL-Westcan. Mr. Davis remained with RTL-Westcan until 2015 holding various other executive roles and currently sits on the boards of several private companies. Mr. Davis is a Certified Management Accountant (Alberta), Chartered Accountant (Saskatchewan and Alberta) and a Fellow of the Society of Management Accountants of Canada.
Mr. McGowan is the former President & Chief Executive Officer of Ironhand Drilling Inc. prior to its sale to CWC in May 2014. From 2003 to 2005, Mr. McGowan was the President of McGowan Consulting Corp. where he provided engineering and consulting services in the areas of drilling, completion, reserves and economics. From 1996 to 2003, Mr. McGowan co-founded and presided over three oil and gas exploration companies: Catalina Energy, Causeway Energy and Bushmills Energy. He also worked as a petroleum engineer for Northstar Energy, Enron Oil and Gas and Canada Northwest Energy. Mr. McGowan holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
Mr. McCartney is the Managing Partner of Burstall Winger Zammit LLP, a Calgary-based law firm, and has been a Partner of the firm since January 1, 2008. He practices in the areas of securities and corporate finance and corporate/commercial law. Mr. McCartney has also acted as a Director and Corporate Secretary to numerous public and private companies, and currently acts as a Director and Corporate Secretary to Aveda Transportation and Energy Services Inc. (TSX-V:AVE).
Mr. Shelley has over 25 years of experience in senior positions with an extensive background in leadership, strategic planning and implementation, finance, capital markets, investor relations and marketing. He graduated with a B.Comm (Hons) from Queen's University and subsequently obtaining his CGA. Following his studies, Mr. Shelley joined RBC Financial Group and served in various capacities. After 15 years with RBC, Mr. Shelley left to join GE Capital as an executive and officer and, for the next nine years, was responsible for the company's significant growth in Western Canada. Since 2005, Mr. Shelley has been involved in various corporate finance, mergers, acquisitions and divestiture activities both as principal as well as a consultant.
