Meet Our CEO
Colin Schmidt started TerraPro with his father-in-law Richard in 2006 and carries on our company’s origins as a family business. Colin leads our team with exceptional care, passion, and dedication.
President, CEO & Director
With over 35 years of sales experience and 15 years spent in the Canadian oil and gas industry, Colin oversees the strategic direction and operational activities of TerraPro.
A natural-born entrepreneur, Colin received much of his early education in sales and relationship management from family businesses. He co-founded TerraPro in 2006 and, in addition to his duties as President and CEO of TerraPro, he’s heavily involved in our growth and business development activities.
Meet Our Leadership Team
Chief Financial Officer
Jeannine joined the TerraPro team in 2022 and has over 25 years of accounting, finance, and change management experience. As a Certified Management Accountant, she has spent the majority of her career as a consultant helping businesses and NPOs navigate periods of change, whether in leadership or in modernizing their accounting systems.
Jeannine works with the finance and administration teams and collaborates with the board of directors and leadership team to optimize the financial performance of the company.
In her spare time, you’ll find Jeannine enjoying time with her family and friends.
VP Operations and Fleet
Chris joined TerraPro in 2016. He has over 25 years of experience as a small business owner in the transportation and oil & gas industries. Chris oversees our operations, facility and fleet maintenance programs and leads a skilled team of shop, wash plant, and manufacturing plant staff.
Chris enjoys puttering in his shop and spending time with family. He also loves his motorsports; everything from dirt biking to snowmobiling. He has a bit of a soft spot for his wife’s dog Marty and his three young grandsons.
VP Business Development
Kyle re-joined the TerraPro team in 2021. Earlier in his career, he spent eight years with the company as an equipment operator, maintenance coordinator, safety coordinator and field manager. Now, Kyle looks after the strategic business plans of the company, manages and supports members of the sales team, and oversees business and account relationships.
In his spare time, you’ll usually find Kyle outside with his young family. He’s also active in the community, volunteering on various boards and committees.
Production Superintendent – Mat Plant
Grant joined TerraPro in 2018. He’s looked after fabrication for the operations team and set up automation for mat manufacturing, and now oversees the mat manufacturing daily production, mat repairs, and special projects.
In his spare time, you’ll find Grant skiing with his family (downhill and crosscountry), mountain biking, doing water sports or fly fishing. He’s also big into live music and supporting local breweries.
Board of Directors
Doug McCartney is a partner in the Business Law Group at the Calgary office of Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP, a Canadian law firm.
He practices in the areas of securities and corporate finance as well as in corporate/commercial law. Doug also has extensive experience acting as a Director and Corporate Secretary to numerous public and private companies. He currently acts as a valued Director and Corporate Secretary to Aveda Transportation and Energy Services Inc. (TSX-V:AVE).
L. Evan Baergen
Mr. Baergen has been active in a broad spectrum of enterprises encompassing various business sectors, including manufacturing, technology, consulting and service industries. Evan has educational degrees in Electronic Engineering Technology (Northern Alberta Institute of Alberta), Bachelor of Business Administration (Simon Fraser University), and is a Chartered Professional Accountant, having articled with Price Waterhouse. He has been active in a wide range of senior management roles, such as the CEO of a Canadian public Issuer, CEO and CFO of various US public companies, private and public Issuer turnarounds, implementation of leading-edge technology projects, and various advisory engagement roles.
Mr. Baergen also has been active in mergers and acquisitions, as well as several start-ups. He has served, or currently serves, as an officer or director of numerous public, private and not-for-profit companies.
C. JAMES DAVIS
Mr. Davis is the former President and CEO of the ECL Group of Companies Ltd. whose businesses included a significant bulk liquid transportation company in Western Canada, a specialty chemical manufacturer, transportation and disposal of hazardous liquids and soil remediation companies. Prior to ECL, he was in the finance group with Greyhound Canada and progressive roles in public practice with Deloitte Touche. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (FCPA, FCMA, CA).
When RTL-Westcan acquired the business of ECL Transportation, Mr. Davis became President and Chair of the Executive Steering Committee and remained with the Company for five years after the acquisition. He is currently a mentor to several Western Canada business through an umbrella organization and a director of private companies and not-for-profit organizations.
Richard provides an extensive background of business and management experience. As a co-founder of Terrapro, he was instrumental in the business case development and execution of its founding objectives resulting in the significant presence it currently enjoys in the Western Canadian Energy industry. He has a successful history of business development in a wide array of industries including construction, technology, and real estate.
Richard holds a BSc in Mechnical Engineering (UofA ’74), and an Executive MBA (Queen’s ’05). He currently resides with his wife, Janice, in Kelowna, BC.
Mr. Martin has more than 25 years of financial management experience involving the implementation of strategic business plans and raising capital for private and public entities. He has founded two public and several private companies in various industries. Mr. Martin has been a partner of a boutique brokerage and financial services group involved in advising small and mid-sized companies on corporate finance, M&A, buyouts, private equity and wealth management.
Dwight owned his own accounting practice from 1993 to 2008 and practiced as a Chartered Accountant providing financial and taxation services to a wide range of businesses. He is a graduate from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with distinction.
Mr. McGowan is highly experienced in the oil and gas industry and holds a BSc in Petroleum Engineering from the UofA. He's also a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA).
Wade is the former President and CEO of Ironhand Drilling Inc. and the former President of McGowan Consulting Corp. He has provided engineering and consulting services in the areas of drilling, completion, reserves and economics and has co-founded and presided over three oil and gas exploration companies. He also worked as a petroleum engineer for Northstar Energy, Enron Oil & Gas and Canada Northwest Energy.
