Meet Our CEO

Colin Schmidt started TerraPro with his father-in-law Richard in 2006 and carries on our company’s origins as a family business. Colin leads our team with exceptional care, passion, and dedication.

Colin Schmidt

President, CEO & Director

With over 35 years of sales experience and 15 years spent in the Canadian oil and gas industry, Colin oversees the strategic direction and operational activities of TerraPro.

A natural-born entrepreneur, Colin received much of his early education in sales and relationship management from family businesses. He co-founded TerraPro in 2006 and, in addition to his duties as President and CEO of TerraPro, he’s heavily involved in our growth and business development activities.

BLAIN DAVIS

Sales Manager

Blain joined TerraPro in 2013. He oversees our sales team and drives our pursuit of sustainable business growth. Blain values each one of our clients, has established TerraPro as a market leader in the Canadian pipeline sector, and is a master at relationship management.

Blain has an intense love of backcountry hiking and everything outdoors. Inspired by the generosity of others in his family’s time of need, Blain started The Jack Davis Hope Foundation to raise money for families with sick kids facing difficult medical costs.

Chris Martin

Facility & Fleet Manager

Chris joined TerraPro in 2016. He has over 25 years of experience as a small business owner in the transportation and oil & gas industries. Chris oversees our facility and fleet maintenance programs and leads a skilled team of shop, wash plant, and manufacturing plant staff.

Chris enjoys puttering in his shop and spending time with family. He also loves his motorsports; everything from dirt biking to snowmobiling. He has a bit of a soft spot for his wife’s dog Marty and his two young grandsons.

Jeff Miller

Financial Controller

Jeff holds a CPA designation and a BA in Economics. He has been our Financial Controller since 2016 when he joined us from Nabors Canada. Jeff oversees all financial reporting at TerraPro and manages our accounting, finance, and administrative teams.

Jeff is a huge Star Wars fan and loves to spend quality time with his kids and pets. He also enjoys playing softball and forcing his kids to practice piano. Around TerraPro, Jeff is legendary for his dance skills and his university-born DJ abilities.

Julie Wilson

HR Manager

With a BA in Psychology, a Post-Grad Diploma in HR, and over 20 years of HR experience, Julie joined TerraPro in 2017 after working for Nabors Canada. She handles recruitment, retention, and everything else HR while also overseeing our Safety & IT teams.  

Julie grew up golfing and is a former CPGA professional. As a doting aunt, Julie never misses a performance, game, or concert for her nieces or nephews. She also loves curling, camping, and trying new foods.

Lee McIntosh

GM of Operations

After 30 years on the road, Lee brought his extensive project management and civil earthworks experience to TerraPro in 2018. He manages our field crews and oversees dispatch. Previously, Lee spent 8 years overseeing all winter drilling construction activities for the Christina Lake Cenovus facility. 

Lee enjoys spending time at the lake boating and fishing. He also loves spending time with his wife and grandchildren. He’s a skilled home renovator and an absolute master of funny memes.

Doug McCartney

Director

Mr. McCartney is the Managing Partner of Burstall Winger Zammit LLP, a Calgary-based law firm, where he has been a Partner of the firm for over a decade.

He practices in the areas of securities and corporate finance as well as in corporate/commercial law. Doug also has extensive experience acting as a Director and Corporate Secretary to numerous public and private companies. He currently acts as a valued Director and Corporate Secretary to Aveda Transportation and Energy Services Inc. (TSX-V:AVE).

L. Evan Baergen 

Director


Mr. Baergen has been active in a broad spectrum of enterprises encompassing various business sectors, including manufacturing, technology, consulting and service industries. Evan has educational degrees in Electronic Engineering Technology (Northern Alberta Institute of Alberta), Bachelor of Business Administration (Simon Fraser University), and is a Chartered Professional Accountant, having articled with Price Waterhouse. He has been active in a wide range of senior management roles, such as the CEO of a Canadian public Issuer, CEO and CFO of various US public companies, private and public Issuer turnarounds, implementation of leading-edge technology projects, and various advisory engagement roles.

Mr. Baergen also has been active in mergers and acquisitions, as well as several start-ups. He has served, or currently serves, as an officer or director of numerous public, private and not-for-profit companies.

C. JAMES DAVIS

Director

Mr. Davis has significant executive leadership and board experience in the transportation and oilfield industries. He completed his CMA and CA designations and is a Fellow of the Society of Management Accountants of Canada.

James started out at Deloitte & Touche before becoming Corporate Controller for Greyhound Canada. He joined ECL as CFO and quickly became President, CEO, and Director. When RTL-Westcan acquired ECL, James became President and Chair of the Executive Steering Committee and remained with the company for years after holding various executive roles.

Jeff Schellenberg

Director

Mr. Schellenberg earned a B.Comm, an MBA, and an LLB from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta. After completing his legal articles he was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Jeff worked in investment banking for nearly seven years at Merrill Lynch Canada where he focused on M&A advisory and financing work. Joining TerraPro in 2013, Jeff spent seven years on our executive leadership team where he oversaw strategic and financial activities. Jeff also serves as a Director on the board for Kulhawe Holdings Ltd. He is highly experienced in corporate finance, investments, and corporate governance. 

Dwight Martin

Director

Mr. Martin has more than 25 years of financial management experience involving the implementation of strategic business plans and raising capital for private and public entities. He has founded two public and several private companies in various industries. Mr. Martin has been a partner of a boutique brokerage and financial services group involved in advising small and mid-sized companies on corporate finance, M&A, buyouts, private equity and wealth management.

Dwight owned his own accounting practice from 1993 to 2008 and practiced as a Chartered Accountant providing financial and taxation services to a wide range of businesses. He is a graduate from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with distinction.

WADE MCGOWAN

Director


Mr. McGowan is highly experienced in the oil and gas industry and holds a BSc in Petroleum Engineering from the UofA. He’s also a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA).

Wade is the former President and CEO of Ironhand Drilling Inc. and the former President of McGowan Consulting Corp. He has provided engineering and consulting services in the areas of drilling, completion, reserves and economics and has co-founded and presided over three oil and gas exploration companies. He also worked as a petroleum engineer for Northstar Energy, Enron Oil & Gas and Canada Northwest Energy.
